You’ve narrowed your search down to a few wedding venues you love—and now it’s time to compare prices.

One venue is $2,400 more than another. But before you assume you know which one is the better value, there’s an important question to ask:

What does each price actually include?

Wedding venue pricing can be surprisingly difficult to compare. One price might include tables, chairs, linens, décor and plenty of time to set up. Another might be primarily the rental of the space, with many of those things added separately.

And you might be surprised to find that the venue offering more doesn’t always come with the higher price tag.

That's why comparing wedding venues isn't just about finding the lowest starting price. It's about figuring out what you'll actually need, what's already included, what you'll have to add—and ultimately what your wedding will really cost.

If you’re comparing wedding venue prices in Tulsa or the surrounding Oklahoma area, here are 10 things to look at before you book.

1. How Many Hours Are Actually Included?

Ask exactly when you may arrive—and when you have to leave.

If your rental begins at noon and your ceremony is at 5:00, when will you decorate, and what time will the bridal party get ready? When will vendors arrive?

Then ask what happens at the end of the night. If everything has to be removed immediately after the reception, your family or wedding party may spend the end of your wedding night loading vehicles.

Time has value, too.

That's one reason T-Rise Ranch offers both a 12-hour Day-of Package and entire-weekend options. Some couples want one beautiful day. Others want time to settle in, decorate and rehearse without squeezing everything into a few hours.

2. Are Tables and Chairs Included?

Tables and chairs seem like a small detail until you have to rent them for 120 people.

Ask whether ceremony and reception seating are included, how many tables are available and whether there are tables for things like the cake, gifts, food and DJ.

Also ask who handles setup and breakdown.

At T-Rise Ranch, tables and chairs are included, so they aren't another rental expense couples need to add to the budget.

3. What About Linens?

Linens are another expense that can sound small until you start adding everything up.

Ask whether they're included, what sizes and colors are available, who puts them on the tables and what happens to them after the reception.

At T-Rise Ranch, linens are available to our couples.

No rental fee. No setup fee. No cleaning fee.

That's one less thing to rent, transport, return—or ask your mom to deal with the morning after your wedding.

4. How Much Will You Spend on Décor?

Pinterest can be dangerous to a wedding budget!

Lanterns, vases, greenery, easels, signs, centerpieces, cake stands and all those little details can add up quickly.

Before buying everything yourself, ask whether your venue has décor available.

And think beyond the wedding. Buying 20 centerpieces may sound fun six months before the wedding. Figuring out what to do with them afterward is another story.

T-Rise Ranch has a Décor Room filled with items our couples can use. Mix our pieces with your own personal touches instead of starting from scratch.

5. How Much Time Will You Have to Decorate?

If you have only a few hours before the ceremony, someone has to spend those hours decorating.

Will that be you? Your mom? Your bridesmaids? A paid coordinator?

If decorating the day before is important to you, ask about it before signing a contract.

This is one of the things we love about weekend weddings at T-Rise Ranch. There's time to arrive, unload,

decorate and rehearse—and then actually stop working on the wedding for a while.

Imagine going to bed the night before knowing the reception space is already decorated instead of waking up with a giant wedding-day to-do list.

That breathing room doesn't show up on a pricing sheet, but it can completely change how the wedding feels.

6. Is There a Separate Ceremony Space—and What’s the Rain Plan?

Some venues use the same room for the ceremony and reception, requiring a room flip between the two.

There's nothing wrong with that, but you need to know before you book.

And if your heart is set on an outdoor ceremony, ask one very important question:

What's Plan B if it rains?

Oklahoma gives us some gorgeous outdoor wedding days. It can also change its mind about the weather pretty quickly.

At T-Rise Ranch, want an outdoor ceremony? No problem.

If our chapel isn't your Plan A, it can certainly be your Plan B.

Plan your ceremony outdoors on our 30 acres, and if the weather doesn't cooperate, you already have a dedicated indoor ceremony space right there.

Meanwhile, the reception space stays decorated and ready.

No scrambling for a rain plan. No turning the reception room into a ceremony space and then flipping it back again.

7. Where Will Everyone Get Ready?

Getting-ready spaces are beautiful for photographs, but they're also practical.

If your venue doesn't provide adequate space, you may need a hotel room, Airbnb or another location.

Now you've potentially added another expense—and another place people need to travel from on the wedding day.

At T-Rise Ranch, our Farmhouse and Lodge provide dedicated spaces where the wedding party can get ready without leaving the property.

8. Can You Choose Your Own Vendors?

Vendor requirements can have a major effect on your final budget.

Before booking, ask about:

  • Required or preferred caterers

  • Food and beverage minimums

  • Bartending requirements

  • DJ restrictions

  • Coordinator or security requirements

  • Service fees

  • Vendor insurance requirements

A venue price can look great until you discover you're required to purchase services you hadn't planned on using.

9. Are There Additional Fees?

Ask two simple questions:

“What else will I have to pay you?”

and

“What will I need to rent or purchase elsewhere because it isn't included?”

Possible extras include cleaning, setup, security, ceremony or rehearsal fees, overtime, rentals and other services.

A venue that appears to be thousands less may not actually cost thousands less once everything is added back in.

The goal isn't necessarily to find the lowest starting price.

It's to know the real price before you sign the contract.

10. Will You Need Hotel Rooms?

If your wedding party or immediate family will be traveling, where will everyone stay?

Hotel rooms can quickly add hundreds or thousands of dollars to the wedding weekend. Then there's

transportation between hotels, getting-ready locations and the venue.

On-site lodging changes that equation.

At T-Rise Ranch, our weekend packages can include the Farmhouse and, with our larger package, the Lodge. With overnight accommodations for 30+ guests, many of the people closest to you can stay right on the property.

And that can create something even more valuable than savings:

Time together.

The Wedding Expense Couples Often Forget: Time

When you're comparing wedding venues, it's easy to compare dollars.

It's harder to put a price on time.

Wedding A

You arrive the morning of your wedding.

Cars are being unloaded. Decorations are going up. Hair and makeup are happening. Vendors are arriving.

Someone can't find the cake knife. Someone else wants to know where the tablecloths go.

You have your ceremony and reception.

Then it's over—and everyone starts tearing everything back down.

Wedding B

You arrive the day before.

You unload. Decorate. Rehearse. Eat dinner.

Then you have time to just be there.

Sit on the porch. Go fishing. Get in the pool. Gather around the fire.

The next morning, you wake up

already at your wedding venue.

The decorating is done.

Your things are there.

Your people are there.

And after the reception, some of the people you love most don't immediately have to scatter to different hotels.

That's why T-Rise Ranch was built around the idea of the wedding weekend, rather than only the wedding day.

Not every couple wants that—and that's perfectly okay. It's why we offer a Day-of Package too.

But if you're comparing a day venue with a weekend venue:

Don't compare the prices until you've compared the experiences.

So, What Does T-Rise Ranch Actually Include?

Since we've used ourselves as an example, here's the quick version.

T-Rise Ranch is a private 30-acre wedding venue about 30 miles west of Tulsa for weddings of up to approximately 120 reception guests.

12-Hour Day-of Package — Starting at $2,700

Entire Weekend Packages — Starting at $3,600

Depending on the package you choose, your wedding experience can include our chapel, reception barn, Farmhouse and Lodge, along with tables, chairs, linens, décor and overnight accommodations.

But compare more than the list.

Compare what those things allow you to do.

Spread out.

Decorate without rushing.

Keep your wedding party nearby.

Let family spend time together.

Sit on the porch.

Go fishing.

Swim.

Gather around the fire.

Wake up at your wedding venue.

And enjoy a little more of the experience you've spent months planning.

And remember that $2,400 price difference we started with?

After you've added up rentals, linens, décor, extra hours, getting-ready spaces, hotel rooms and all those other extras, you may be surprised by which venue actually costs less.

Psst...

Sometimes the venue that gives you more is also the one with the lower price.

Around here, that's often us. 😉
